Navy Pier Jr. Fire Chief Trashes Progress

Navy Pier

Yesterday I seemed to be making progress toward my transformation from tourist to resident. Today I made a decision which completely cancelled out this advancement. On my way to work, I decided I really need to spend more time at the Navy Pier.

The day might arrive when I walk around town without a giant camera. Perhaps one day I’ll even get upset about catching my heel in a sewer (not likely). Or, on a future “L” ride, I might just throw on my somber face. But I will never stop loving the Navy Pier. It reminds me of family vacations and wishes and dreaming of living here when I was a little girl.

I originally imagined coming here for graduate school. I decided I’d bring my work to the Navy Pier and study. (Study breaks would consist of enjoying the skyline and beer garden.) I did not end up here to further my education, though, so unfortunately, I cannot bring work to the pier. Instead, I bring the pier to work. What do you think my co-workers would say if they caught a glimpse of the “Navy Pier Jr. Fire Chief” children’s t-shirt I enjoy wearing under button-up shirts?
